The clam chowder was excellent and the service was outstanding!

I highly recommend this for any occasion!

As always, delicious! The calamari was tasty and crisp. The artichoke was great! Spaghetti and meatballs was tangy and tasty and I could eat the sweet, lovely, dessert every day. Highly recommend! Service was swift, friendly and helpful!

Excellent service, atmosphere and food on the wharf in Monterey. Our server was Iman and he was great! We had the Crab Ravioli, crab meat tower, garlic bread bowl and cheesecake. All were delicious!

The service was just as fabulous as the food. The ambiance is quiet and intimate with jazz playing in the background. 10/10 will be back again. I got the halibut crusted special and it was delicious!

It's been a very long time since I've been here. Today, I'm finally here at the Grotto. I had a lot of memories here. Everything looks the same, same elegant and charming decor. I had a Booth with a beautiful window view this time. The debate between who has the best Clam Chowder been going on forever, New England, San Francisco, or Monterey? I don't care what anybody says, this the first Calm Chowder I ever had, this is what I'm used to, this is what I grew up with. I don't just take anybody here. I went with a Sourdough Garlic Bread bowl. It's a big portion. I also got the Fried Calamari, and Caesar Salad. I finally got my Caesar Salad. And I've had Fried Cuttlefish when I was growing up, but the first time I had Fried Calamari was later in life and as I remember, it was Italian style. I really like the consistency of the Chowder, and I can really taste the Seafood flavor in it. And I didn't expect the Caesar Salad would be that good, the Caesar Salad dressing is like a traditional and well made dressing, and the Parmesan Cheese is high quality. I was thinking this was going to be a 3.9 stars to 4.3 stars, this could be a 4.4 stars on a good day, but I give this 4.3 stars.

Comfortable, elegant restaurant with top notch servers, great variety and overall excellent taste. They are known for their clam chowder which was truly delicious but their crème brûlée and desert selection was superb. Nice views of the bay and docks while you relax and dine in comfort on the pier.

Had a reservation for 2. My date and I were running 15 minutes late so we called ahead of time and they still honored our reservation. Was seated upstairs in a nice private booth. Drinks were good. The waiter Pablo was exceptionally polite and was frequently checking in on us. Ordered bbq oysters and clams for appetizers. Both were tremendous. My date had the ahi tuna plate and I had the surf and turf. Both were extremely delicious and the flavors were off the chart. 10/10 would return.

Very cozy little spot on a pier with beautiful views. We were lucky enough to get to watch a pair of otters playing in the water. The food was all delicious and service was great.

This place is always amazing. We walked in and welcomed by the owner. They put us in a window booth overlooking the water. Ricardo greeted us and offered his recommendations upon request. I ordered the Captains Plate substituting the veggies for their Maple Sweet Potatoes. I highly recommend those. My wife ordered the large bowl of chowder which is the best we've ever had and too much for her to eat. We took the rest home for a whole another meal. Ricardo and Luis were all quick with drink refills. I cannot recommend this place enough . Even though they didn't know it was 35th wedding anniversary, they still managed to impress with great food and equally as great service. Thank you.
