Absolutely amazing experience. Right when we walked in we were taken care of and greeted like a family friend. Austin, the manager took us to a beautiful ocean view table and started the wonderful experience right away. The service was outstanding, Miguel really nailed it. The clam chowder really was THE best. The lobster and the risotto were top tier. Next time we're in town this will be our first stop. You must try it!

Ordered clam chowder and a roll of bread. Fried calamari only. To go. Was about $50. It's a good treat every so often. Consistently good quality on these two items. If you eat inside women receive a rose.

We had such a great dinner at Old Fisherman's Grotto. The Oysters Rockefeller were rich and delicious, and the warm goat cheese and beet salad was honestly one of my favorite bites of the night. For mains, the cioppino was packed with fresh seafood and so comforting, while the halibut with prawns was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The whole evening just felt nice, good food, warm service, and that classic Monterey Wharf atmosphere that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. We left happy, full, and already talking about coming back.

One of the best food experiences we have ever had. Wonderful food, great service, and old school ambiance. We have never been here before and we're traveling to the Monterey area and has to try out this place. We definitely will be back!! The manager on duty was extremely accommodating and very helpful. We loved everything we ordered.

Luis was our service person. He was very nice and recommended the local offerings of the day. He had mentioned that bottles of wine were on special, and we do not drink. I asked about military discounts instead cans he said that was not available at this time. I was honestly just asking, because the wine was on special to be sassy. Luis came back with an amazing appetizer for us to share.
Shocked and amazed. But swiped grateful... and he didn't with a smile.
The food was fantastic and hit the spot. Coconut shrimp with the mango sauce was GREAT. Totally hit the spot!
To end our dinner, he offered my husband a dessert on the house for his military service. How sweet was that! Totally unexpected! This is quite an honor.

We've been visiting Old Fisherman's Grotto each time we stay in Monterey several times a year. This restaurant has exceptional food, amazing ambiance and we are always treated like royalty! It's fun to be recognized by staff members. We cannot recommend this wonderful experience enough! Try the Ultimate seafood pasta or the Macadamia Nut encrusted Halibut, but never pass on the opportunity to enjoy the best chowder anywhere!
