Old Fisherman’s Grotto is a long time favorite of ours for celebrations. The halibut, sole and crab dishes we ordered were all excellently prepared. Isaias and other staff make sure that you will enjoy your meal. Consistently, a true gem in the Monterey area.

Our son took us here for my birthday lunch today and from the time we walked in until the time we left it was five star. Our waiter Miguel, was spot on and our food was the best Seafood we’ve had in a long time. I had the crab raviolis, and my husband had coconut shrimp. They were both so good We can’t wait to go back.

The calamari at this restaurant is the best I have ever tasted. Their clam chowder is award-winning and truly deserves the recognition; it’s creamy and packed with clams and potatoes. We all shared the rib-eye, which was also one of the finest I’ve had—flavorful and incredibly tender. The service was top-notch as well. This restaurant has been the best in Monterey for many years and deservedly so!

Very nice seafood restaurant. Great views, service and food. They gave a long stem rose to each lady at the conclusion of dinner.

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner here during our trip to Monterey and Old Fisherman’s Wharf. My husband enjoyed the delicious Crab Ravioli and I found the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl to be one of the best I have had. The sourdough bread bowl was fresh and warm and complimented the Monterey Clam Chowder perfectly. The service was friendly and attentive. We did have a water view spot which was a plus. Definitely worth a meal here when in Monterey.

I selected this place for a business meal as it was right on the water and had very high ratings. It did not disappoint. The views were spectacular, and the food was also excellent. The wine selection was actually fairly good as well and everyone had a fantastic time. It's obviously been around for a while, but the wait staff was great, and I would certainly go back.

One thing to note is it also had steaks and other things in addition to just seafood. So they really appear to be something for everyone.

So, we are on a 3 week trip to California, a few nights in San Fransisco, 10 days with friends, now on a one week road trip starting in Monterey and it happens to be my birthday.
After walking past the Old Fisherman's Grotto earlier today both my wife (who booked it) and myself (but I kept quiet) were a little concerned if it was the right choice. However, do not judge a book by it's cover.
It was fantastic, the welcome, the staff, the food (superb) and the environment/ambience were perfect. The whole experience was wonderful. The décor, ambience, music and service really matched what we hoped for.
We had a wonderful time and would really recommend it to everyone. Thank you all at the Old Fishermans Grotto.

We were so impressed by everything about this restaurant we did something we never do and ate here two nights running. Service was so slick and well organised and the food was top notch. Great ambiance with lighting and music just right. The owner goes round and introduces himself to the guests whilst keeping an eye on all the employees which maybe explains why this operation runs like clockwork. A real classy establishment and highly recommended.

We enjoyed a beautiful view of the beach of the Bay. We were seated in the cocktail bar, but the restaurant menu is served here. I had a nice salad and seafood linguine with very good scallops, shrimp and surprisingly bland clams. The linguini sauce was heavy on cream and butter (I added salt and pepper which I rarely do)-no parsley, or white wine I could taste.. My husband was very happy with his large portion of fresh sand dabs. They have nice cocktails and wine list as well as a very appetizing looking dessert tray, but we were to full to want to think of dessert. One thing about this place is that they are NOT SMALL CHILD FRIENDLY-NO HIGH CHAIRS OR BOOSTER CHAIRS!

Fantastic food and service. Had a great table overlooking the harbor. Loved the place and would go back in a minute. Best food in Monterey.
