Oh my goodness, what a dinner experience to remember and for all the right reasons. Greeted by a nice guy who, although we had no booking, told us he’d get us a table. Got a lovely table overlooking the water and as we ate, we watched the sun go down 😍. As for the dinner, absolutely fabulous. I had crab cakes and pear and Gorgonzola salad, my husband had oysters and the halibut special while my son had calamari and shrimp pasta. Absolutely beautifully fresh and amazing tasting food. A half bottle of wine (25% discounted!) and a few cokes, all in, just over $200. This evening has restored my faith in customer service (thank you Reuben), food and Monterey. A restaurant in Carmel almost ruined our Monterey experience last night. Hopefully you see this and take note of how things should be done.

Great clam chowder, a little pricey. It was ok overall. The location on the pier is fun. Lots to look at and some cute shops.

What a beautiful place! Located right by the waterfront, this restaurant offers a wonderful setting for a relaxing meal.
The seafood was fresh and absolutely delicious, and we enjoyed it with a very good bottle of wine. Our waiter was friendly, funny, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The atmosphere was truly special and made for a memorable evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great seafood and a fantastic dining experience.

We were just strolling on the pier after checking into the Portola Hotel and it got late so we figured we would find a place to eat on the pier. We are so glad we stopped here as it was such a beautiful experience. It was like a true old school Italian Style or Rat Pack era style restaurant. The service was amazing starting from the outside host to the waiters and bus boys. If prices are an issue for you than go inland because the piers prices are all expensive. Anyway, we had pasta and chicken Parmigiana, rib eye steak with asparagus and double baked potato, sampler appetizer and a bowl of clam chowder. Every thing was delicious! Streak was perfect medium rare and most importantly the service was excellent. They had plenty to staff. I loved the dim lighting and Big Band Era style music. Reminded me of my grandparents. I would definitely come again, especially on a date or with a group of friends or adult family. Between the service and quality of food I didn’t care about anything else.

We’ve been visiting Old Fisherman’s Grotto each time we stay in Monterey several times a year. This restaurant has exceptional food, amazing ambiance and we are always treated like royalty! It’s fun to be recognized by staff members. We cannot recommend this wonderful experience enough! Try the Ultimate seafood pasta or the Macadamia Nut encrusted Halibut, but never pass on the opportunity to enjoy the best chowder anywhere!
