Clam Chowder Clam Chowder in Sourdough bread is a must try, so good! However the sandwiches and Burger weren’t that good, the sandwich would be good if you dip it with the Clam Chowder, but the Burger Patty wasn’t good around all! Grilled with an oil that isn’t good at all!! It tasted really bad, not recommended As to the Clam Chowder in sourdough bread, it is also served next door by the same Restaurant but to go, and is 7$ cheaper than going inside the restaurant

The Best Seafood Restaurant on fisherman’s wharf!!! I brought my fiancé here for the first time meeting the Shake family. I’ve been a family friend for over 40 years and knew Sabu Sr. intimately and wanted her to experience the cuisine here as it is my favorite spot of all time to come to, and I make sure I stop by every time I’m in town or even just passing through to see my friends and visit the family absolutely love love this place and if you ever stop in, you’ll never be disappointed the food is A+ plus!!! Chris and the family will make sure you have an enjoyable experience and a memorable one!!!

Amazing Clam Chowder! We were in Monterey for 8 nights and ate here 4 of them. Their clam chowder is to die for amazing! I was worried it was going to be a toursit trap the first time we visited, mainly due to the location. It is not a tourist trap though, this is a great seafood restaurant, not to be missed.

Incroyable The restaurant speciality is just amazing. The clam soup is excellent. Cocktails are as beautiful as they are good. I highly recommend it.

Fabulous! Excellent meal, prepared especially for dietary restrictions! Grilled rock cod with Cajun spices and mango relish. Delicious! Service was excellent! Fisherman’s Wharf location in Monterey had the perfect ambiance. Highly recommend!

Extraordinary in Every Way From the moment we checked in to wait for a table, absolute first class treatment!! High-end everything, and the food was excellent. I am a bit of a picky eater, and our waiter made my every request seem effortless. The sourdough bread, clam chowder, salad, and giant fried shrimp were all superb!!

Great food, great wine, great service. My wife and I came here while spending a couple of days in Monterey to relax. The quaint, exterior (whole fitting in with the rest of the wharf) belies a dining atmosphere that would rival most 5-star restaurants the world over. The food was brilliant, the drinks menu was extensive and the service was second to none. We shared the crab and calamari cowder to start and had our own, equally wonderful mains of cod and calamari. Followed by a complimentary (for our homeymoon) slice of cheesecake. I would highly recommend Old Fisherman's Grotto to anyone who wants a delicious meal with a local flair.
