The clam bake was amazing, lots of flavor. I would say that this place has the best clam chowder. I'm not sure what decides the award winning clam chowder but i myself would give this an award. Though expensive, the other restaurants actually had similar prices so I guess the price is reasonable. The service was amazing, they were fast with it and the view is really nice. The best thing about this place was that the windows are tinted so the sun doesn't burn you while enjoying the food and view. We had the sparkling water which was a great combo with our food. Overall, best place and always busy for a good reason.

Rubin was awesome as he went over the menu thoroughly with great suggestions. The food was fantastic. The seafood was very fresh. We had a great table with a sunset view of the harbor. The clam chowder was really good too.

The food and service were amazing. We ordered the classic clam chowder in a garlic bread bowl, fried calamari, the Seafood Linguini Isabella, and the BBQ oysters. I never like oysters, but these BBQ oysters completely changed my mind--they were fantastic, and I'm still dreaming about them.

The fried calamari wasn't the best since it was a bit soggy, but the pasta and the garlic clam chowder bread bowl were phenomenal. The soup with the garlic bread was truly chef's kiss. I wish SoCal had something like this. The scallop in the pasta was incredibly flavorful and delicious.

I'd love to come back. At the end of our meal, the server even gave me a rose. Great service, beautiful views, and delicious food. We walked in around 5 without a reservation and didn't have to wait, which was such a relief. If we wanted a table right by the water, it would've been a 30‑minute wait, but we decided not to. Still, the whole experience was wonderful.

Definitely want to come back again.

Overall great experience, the staff was friendly and attentive from start to finish. The food was delicious with decent portions for being a "touristy" restaurant.

The restaurant itself is on the older side, but has great charm and beautiful views.

Wow my stomach literally hurts from eating so much. We celebrated our 6 year anniversary and it was really sweet of them to give us a beautiful window seat and we saw the little extras of putting roses around our candle making our atmosphere more romantic and a surprise cheesecake with a candle to celebrate our anniversary. I very much appreciated the little things that made our diner so special. Our server Ricardo was very attentive. We shared the ultimate seafood risotto which was more than we could ask for. We ended up loving the oysters and ordered a total of 2 orders, and then the clam chowder was so so good. Happy bellies!

I've been coming here for over 35 years. Their chowder is the best in the world and their food is very good as well. Love the ambiance

We made a reservation for our wedding anniversary, and they went above and beyond to make our night special! When we arrived, it seemed the word was spread as every single worker we encountered, whether they were serving us or not, wished us a happy anniversary and genuinely sounded so happy! The did our table up for us, complete with tablecloth, candle, rose petals, the works! They even ensured we had a table overlooking the water and gave us a complimentary dessert and a rose for the lady at the end of the evening. And the food was phenomenal! Can't recommend this place enough if you're feeling fancy in Monterey!

For several years visiting Monterey, I never visited the wharf or explored.
So glad we did this time because every view was gorgeous.
From start to finish, service at the Old Fishermans Grotto was impeccable. Decor and vibes were alluring and welcome. And such an amazing staff who take such great care of their customers.

Food was amazing, view was amazing. We will definitely be back!
